Here’s a shortlist of the best warehouse system management tools:
Have some questions about warehouse management systems? You’re probably not the only one. Browse our list of commonly asked questions below.
What is a warehouse management system? A warehouse management system is a digital tool designed to support, control, and optimize typical warehouse workflow. Typically, these processes include the likes of inventory management and inventory accuracy, picking and shipping, fulfillment, auditing, and more. A warehouse management system might be included with your enterprise resource planning software or supply chain management (SCM) software, or it might be a separate software.
How do warehouse management systems work? Warehouse management systems work differently, depending on the WMS software you settle on. However, you can expect each to have similar basic functionality that includes items like inventory tracking, handheld barcode scanners or radio-frequency identification (RFID) scanners, label and packing slip printing, shipment tracking, navigating pallet and inventory storage, supporting staff, and more.
What are the benefits of warehouse management systems? Warehouse management software has many benefits, some of which include: reduced operating expenses and labor costs, optimized inventory tracking, just-in-time (low stock, fast replenish) warehouse inventory capabilities, security practices, inbound/outbound control, billing management, CRM, and much more.
What are some free warehouse management systems? Free warehouse management software may be sufficient for small warehouses. Options include Odoo, PartKeepr, ABC Inventory, Stockpile, and Skyware.

Mobe3 WMS will help you structure your warehouse layout and amplify your direct picking routes with SmartBarcode scanning and system-directed picking, designed to help eliminate manual error and boost labour efficiency.
This software was easy to implement and quick to get up-and-running. Mobe3 WMS has a good training structure and an interface that is easy to figure out and navigate. They scored highly on the usability section of the evaluation.
This tool is flexible and configurable and can integrate with your ERP as well as other systems like TMS, MES, weigh scales, and robots like Slack.
One con for the software was noted was that there were a few issues with compatibility with previous iOS versions and other older smart devices.
Mobe3 WMS starts at $300/user/month and has a free demo.
SphereWMS’ warehouse management software allows you to gain control, efficiency, and visibility over your warehouse operations with wireless barcode scanning, real-time web visibility and reports, flexible customization, and an iPhone/iPod app.
SphereWMS scored favorably in the integrations section of the evaluation criteria, as they have a robust list of third-party connector options that are readily listed on their site. Any company that needs a flexible WMS that plays well with others would benefit from Sphere.
SphereWMS provides you with options for integration with top e-commerce sites and online shopping carts. Integration options include Amazon, ApparelMagic, BigCommerce, Blue Cherry, Channel Advisor, ClickFunnels, CS.cart, Etsy, Foxycart, Houzz, Joor, Netsuite, PayPal, PrestaShop, Salesforce, Squarespace, WooCommerce, and more.
One critique of this tool is that some functions can be a bit cumbersome, though the extra complexity is usually meant to ensure detailed information capture. Though pricing plans are flexible, this software tends to be on the more expensive side comparatively.
SphereWMS offers pricing upon request and has a free demo.
Infoplus is a full WMS with inbound and purchasing, outbound and shipping, inventory control, building blocks, custom reporting, dashboards, management by exception, low stocks and stock controls, customer portal, and real-time order and shipment tracking.
As a WMS, Infoplus is very flexible in their pricing plans with some lower-cost options for start-ups and small businesses. They are also very transparent with their pricing scheme on their website. Thus, they scored well in the evaluation for Value for Cost.
Integrations include over 120 connections with carts, carriers, and more. Some examples include Amazon Seller Central, Etsy, Cratejoy, HSN, Walmart Marketplace, Walmart DSV (Drop Ship Vendor), ChannelAdvisor, and more.
One con is a lack of, or subpar versions of, reporting and statistics tools. This software is lacking in real-time reporting as well as data import/export.
Infoplus starts at $379/month and has a free demo.
Odoo is a series of warehouse and sales solutions divided into a family of apps that cover websites, sales, operations, and productivity tools. Their warehouse management software uses order points and automated RFQs for automated replenishment of your supply chain.
This software allows for the free use of 1 of their applications and a modest cost for the addition of another. If you find that you can make do with 1 or 2 of their tools, this is easily the most budget-friendly option on this list, so they scored well in Value for Cost.
Third-party integrations can be connected through Zapier. However, Odoo offers a full suite of software and various first-party apps of their own so external plug-ins are not highlighted on their site.
The lack of third-party integration options might be cumbersome to some users who are looking to incorporate their day-to-day project management tools into this software. Customization can be cumbersome.
Odoo starts at $24/user/month and has a free basic plan for 1 app.
One of the things SkuVault excels at is the sheer number of ready-to-go integrations they have available with their system, a selection of which is listed below. Thus, they scored highly in the integrations section of the evaluation.

A downside of SkuVault is that a few of the key functions can be troublesome to navigate and execute; for example, the order creation process for shipments and inventory removal could be better organized.
SkuVault starts at $199/month and has a free demo.

Highjump, preparing a rebrand to Körber, is an Agile WMS solution for the dynamic supply chain. Highjump provides technology to improve productivity, reduce operating costs, deliver on shrinking order turnaround windows, and maximize throughput and capacity.
The program is very robust and has many capabilities for advanced users to suss out if so inclined. The UI has improved version-to-version, getting more modern and intuitive with ongoing fixes.
HighJump integrates with all major ERP publishers and also provides custom integration services for legacy and custom-built ERP systems. Examples include Acumatica, Microsoft Dynamics GP/AX/NAV/SL, NetSuite, Sage, SAP Business One, SAP R/3, Oracle ERP, and more.
Highjump has a bit of a steep learning curve, especially when you dive deeper into the software. They lost a few marks in usability because of this; however, it will mostly be something that affects the administrators, not day-to-day users.

This tool has an organized and sensible interface, with details and images clearly laid out for readability and accessibility. It has a familiar UI that any level of user experience can master. Thus, it scored well in the UX evaluation consideration.
Bluelink ERP outlines that it integrates with tablets and barcode scanning devices, common carriers, and rate shopping applications; however, their website didn’t name which individual third-party applications were covered by this.
One downside of Bluelink is that onboarding may be a bit difficult and the company itself offers minimal support during this time.
Bluelink offers pricing upon request and has a free demo.
Manhattan’s WCS order streaming optimizes fulfillment and throughput for both WAVE and WAVELESS order fulfillment simultaneously in a single platform. Streamline receiving and shipping to facilitate cross-docking and expedite back-ordered products.
Manhattan’s WCS does a few things really well, like offering a dedicated WMS team that can write your scripting from SQL Server. Additionally, the environment was easy to learn and get the hang of.
Manhattan WMS didn’t list any integrations on their site.
A lack of stated integrations or offered connections through a marketplace is a huge downfall for this software. Thus, they lost some marks in the Integrations section of the evaluation.
Manhattan starts at $1000 for a SaaS license and $2000 for on-premise.
